As part of the Summer of Science trip, Lizzie and Nick visited Waxahachie, Texas, the site of the planned Superconducting Super Collider. Though the project was cancelled in 1993, significant construction of the tunnel and of several large above-ground buildings had been completed. These now stand abandoned, the tunnel filled with water to slow its decay.
